The Irish Wolfhound is a dog of great size and commanding appearance, combining power, swiftness and keen sight. He is the largest and tallest of the galloping hounds very muscular, strong but gracefully built. His skull is not to broad, long and moderately pointed, his ears small and Greyhound like in carriage. He has a rather long, muscular neck and very deep chest with wide breast. The Wolfhound's back is rather long and the loins arched, while his tail is long and slightly curved. He has rough, hard hair on body, legs and head; it is especially wiry and long over eyes and under the jaw. The recognized colors are gray, brindle, red, black, pure white, fawn or any other color that appears in the Derrhound.
