Aversge Weight: Both- 75-95 pounds
A good German Shepherd Dog is a strong, agile, well muscled animal, alert and full of life. Longer than he is tall, he is deep bodied and presents an outline of smooth curves rather than angles. The breed displays muscular fitness and nimbleness, without any look of clumsiness or soft living. His noble head is cleanly chiselled. Eyes are as dark as possible and the ears, moderately pointed, open toward the front and are carried erect when at attention. The strong, muscular neck leads in to the dogs topline where the withers are higher than the back. The whole structure of the body gives an impression of depth and solidity without bulkiness and the thigh, veiwed from the side, is broad, with both upper and lower thighs well muscled. The bushy tail, when at rest, hangs in a slight curve, like a saber. The double coat is of medium length, the outer coat dense, straight and harsh. Most colors are permissible, but strong, rich colors are preferred.
